Inquiry Question: What is
funny?
Your task is to answer the
above question by creating something funny and uploading it to your blog.
Step 1:
Produce/create something funny.
Step 2: Write a 1-2 page explanation of why
your creation is funny. Explain what
type of comedy you have created and why it meets the criteria of that type of
comedy.
Step 3:
Reflect. In your explanation,
include a 1-2 paragraph reflection on the experience of creating something
humourous. What was challenging/easy
about the process?
Your creation can be a
song, a video production, a short story, a script, a comic, a fake news story
(either print or video), or anything else creative (see your teacher).
It must be satire, farce,
comedy of ideas or comedy of manners.
The humour should be appropriate for the school environment.
You will complete this task
alone or in pairs.

Step 2:
For our humor project we
decided to create a video satire depicting the average lines of dialogue that
are commonly heard by Collingwood students. It was a spin-off of the now
extremely popular series of videos which, have been entitled numerous names
including “Sh*t Skiers Say”, and “Sh*t No-one Says”. These videos have hit the
internet hard and quotes from them have been the punch lines of cleverly
composed jokes, and they are sure to be in continued use for a lot longer. In
our video we displayed satire humor, for example, when one of our actors after
staring dumbfounded at a test suddenly yelled out “why do we even need to know
this?!?” as a classic example of a classic Collingwood Students bratty
attitude. The reason that our creation is funny is just that, it takes the common idea of the average
Collingwood student, and it over exaggerates it to make it something familiar
that has been warped to make it humourous,
Step 3:
For my humor project, my
partner Nathanial and I created a video entitled “Sh*t Collingwood kids say”
which was a spinoff of the ever popular series that has come to be extremely
well known through the usage of YouTube and of the internet. The task of
creating something “funny” is not simple. The reason that I put the word funny
in quotations is because funny could mean many different things to different
people. So in saying this I am suggesting that perhaps a scene of our video
that I found particularly hilarious could be completely dull to someone else,
and that created quite challenging. Although I just stressed how difficult
creating something “funny” can be, it can also be quite easy. It can be easy
because in the process of creating a video, you can get quite into the heat of
the moment and ideas can become to flow quite quickly and with much ease.
